Northeast Portland Photo Gallery | Ruh roh... dog gets loose on the MAX tracks

PORTLAND, Ore. - A dog had a wild morning on Friday running up and down a freeway and along the MAX tracks.

According to Mike Oswald with Multnomah County Animal Services, it took quite a bit of effort for them to capture the dog and get it out of danger.

Oswald said the dog, a female that appears to be some type of Border-Collie mix, made it as far east on Interstate 84 as Northeast 160th before it ended up running around along Interstate 205 in the area of Northeast Prescott Street.

That's where animal control officers were able to corner the dog and get it into their truck. Check out the ODOT video showing the rescue:

The dog had no identification and was taken to a local veterinarian to get checked out before it's transported to the county's animal shelter in Troutdale.

Oswald said in the meantime they are trying to figure out who the owner is. They are following up on a few leads but haven't yet found the person.

"Our first priority is to reunite the dog with the owner," he said.

The dog is mostly black with a little bit of white. She was wearing a black collar without tags and is not microchipped.
