Ah, the beginning of the end.

Ya, i said the same thing when the Pearl District got up and running. . .

What a wonderful place! I ate there regularly when they were on NE 33rd Ave. I sure hope they keep their Hungarian influenced soup. Yummy!

Great. And SO cute that it is opening at 4:20.

I am glad they have good food, but there is something very disturbing about this. I have a cousin that has a medical marijuana card and all she had to do to get it is tell her doctor that she had back pain all the time (which is a lie). If people really need pot, why not keep letting them go to a private place to get it and we wouldn't have these places flaunted in the face of our children.

Unconscionable!

But why make people hide using it, since there's nothing wrong with it?  You can sit in a place and drink a beer, and pot is less of a big deal than that.  Great to see this happening!

are you sure?..   Oregon has one of the most stirct precedures to get your medical marijuana card.   California on the other hand......

Chances are she will not get her card renewed if she is no longer in pain.

They are not selling pot either.

Also the name of the place is a little distasteful.

I love the name! Okay, full disclosure here; I am the one they got their "rump" (mannequin bottom that was displayed inside the former location; not sure about the new location)jfrom...

My husband and I were just talking of the upgrades in this neighborhood. I would say rumpspankers is a downgrade. The name is ridiculous.

Why would the Village Ballroom want this below? We enjoyed the ballroom - had our wedding reception there. So many other businesses could have gone in below.

hhmmmm.....

Dave's picture

Oh come on, the the name is cute and catchy!  This is going to be a big positive in the area.

Why don't they just put a big sign up that say's we have MJ come rob us and are customers.  Please this should be very low key and well monitored.

Anonymous's picture

lol .. yeah .. Can you spell "S T U P I D"

medman's picture

 GET THE FACTS!

they are not SELLING MJ....  Just a place for legal patients to medicate.

much better than a liquor store.. talk about violence. .

Sure is a lot of wrong, stereotype thinking out there about herb and the people who enjoy and need it.  How sad, they need to relax and give it a try! Since it's not at all addictive like alcohol is, and no one has EVER got high then beat up their family.

Anonymous's picture

for the record, it is just as addictive as any other substance. If there is a neurotransmitter in your brain that makes the chemical, then the substance can become addictive.

True, I have not heard of someone beating up family while high and I do believe alcohol is much worse. In fact, I'd rather see pot legalized and alcohol made illegal. So I am not disagreeing there.....but as an A&D counselor I had to correct your misinformation about drug abuse and dependency.

Relax! Medical Marijuana is going to do great things for our states by clearing the Lies about marijuana and how its going to revenue 14mil for our state.  And its gonna have pretty good security.

The Food and Drug Administration said that "no sound scientific studies" supported the medical use of marijuana.

Anonymous's picture

This is stupid and will lead to a California Crimelike aspect to medical marijuana.  The OR model keeps it pretty clean--you get  your card and you grow for yourself, or someone can LEGALLY grow for  you.  There is no for-profit motives as there must be with BUSINESSES.  I guess one could make the argument that some patients buy their medicine from a blackmarket source.  These shops could help prevent that--but I'm telling you--this is NOT such a good thing.

Has anyone here been to the Aladdin? Movie and a beer. What is the difference between a joint and a beer? I think it is a choice. A choice we should all be able to make. We need to remember cannabis has been used for a long time, for a lot of different reasons. The war against cannabis that exists today in the US was started on lies and racism, so another FAIR look must to be taken.

It works fine for the Netherlands. It hasn't destroyed their society, so it won't destroy ours! Unless of course you all think us Americans are too immature to handle something like this? If we can handle such lax laws on weapons, we can surely handle something like this. For those of you that are afraid, don't be, it won't change us into hippies. I've visited places where this sort of thing isn't regulated... and it's not the end of the world, trust me. Yes I am a registered republican, and no I DO NOT smoke the stuff.

Anonymous's picture

i dont smoke pot... bud has been proven to help people with ptsd or other medical problems. people can be so ignorant about this issue. how many times do we have to hear about drunk driving or killing someone because of drunk driving? how may homeless are there in portland due to alcohol in contrast to bud? ever hear about the ban of alcohol back in the days? which caused more crimes and violence? geez. bud isnt bad.

mike's picture

no one has ever died from over consumption of bud.

today alone hundreds of americans will die due to alcohol over consumption and the related diseases that go along with this.

just pointing out the obvious...

Does this place not have to follow the new law that prohibits smoking in public places?  What a joke! I can't believe that we have come to this.  How nice that all these sick people will have a place to use their pot.

RUMPSPANKERS...I want a shirt!!

I would see us having the dispensaries set up shortly all over the state. If properly taxed and monitored I see the budget problems not being such a problem anymore .We waste so much in tax dollars to fight this issue.Over 21 and given the same consequences for being impaired to the point that you cant function ,just like alcohol sounds good to me.I do have to agree the name is distasteful .On the smoking in a public place ,iffy on that one .The general public wouldn't be going in there .Question i have is how are these people getting to and from. I believe crime would go down not significantly ,but go down at least we would know where its constantly at.
