Kyron searchers return, 'following up on tips' | People
PORTLAND, Ore. - Rescue personnel involved in the search for second-grader Kyron Horman have returned to Northwest Portland Saturday.
The searchers converged at a convenience store near Skyline School.
Mary Lindstrand, spokesperson for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, told us they are "following up on tips" in the Skyline area. However, she would not comment further on why crews were in this area.
UPDATE Aug. 8: We have now confirmed that searchers were following up on specific information from DeDe Spicher, a friend of Kyron's stepmother Terri.
Additionally, law enforcement is pursuing tips related to Spicher's relationship with Terri. This comes after multiple sources tell us Spicher is one of several friends who purchased pre-paid phones to communicate with Terri and avoid scrutiny from investigators.
One of those pre-paid phone purchases was done with a fake name, and happened at the Lloyd Center in northeast Portland just days after Kaine Horman moved out of the Horman home with the couple's daughter.
The searches Saturday followed a full week of grand-jury testimony from half a dozen friends of Terri Horman, including Chelsea Aleshire.
"She's my friend," Aleshire said at the time of her grand jury testimony Thursday. "I talked to her that day as a friend and that's all."
Grand-jury testimony in the Kyron Horman case is expected to resume with more witnesses being called early next week.
